My Way - by Derek L. Telford

Cuttings

In July 2005 I attended Bellcross Nurseries Open Day.
Among the demonstrations was one for taking begonia cuttings.
Their method is demonstrated below.

1.

The Cutting.
.

2.

There is a small eye in the base
of the 'V'.

3.

The leaf before it is rounded off with
a sharp knife into a smaller leaf.

4.

The rounded off leaf
and the eye in the leaf axle.
.

5.

The stem stub is trimmed to a flat base and inserted into the growing medium.
.

6.

Waste not, want not. The side cutting from the former is treated the same way and used as a cutting.

7.

Cuttings rooting in a tray.
