Forming Pots for Exhibition

n  The pictures on the accompanying pages are of pot plants in 9" pots being prepared for exhibition.n
Three basal shoots should be selected for training into a triangle and they should be secured to outward sloping canes by gently pulling them towards the canes with soft synthetic twine.
n  This tying will require to be altered each week to permit the arrangement of the subsequent flowers in a manner that they do not overlap each other.

Other requirements:
Aim for 5 flowers on each stem.
Varieties which are free branching should be chosen.
Those varieties which do not produce leafage down the edge of the pot should be avoided.
The buds are secured at 1" diameter some 5 weeks before the show.

VARIETIES
George McCormick (multi stem)    Ziggy (multi stem)    Avalanche & Mrs E. Mclauchlan (multi stem)   Ruby Young
