I use Coir compost for rooting cuttings - B&Q bricks and Singleton's bagged compost.  It is not used as a potting up compost.

a : The Coir brick is placed in a bucket.
b : Water is added.
c : The water has completely broken the brick and it is reary for use.

Left :Coir filled segmented rooting tray.

Right : This cutting was taken in early May and the lower leaf was removed together with the embroyo flower bud.

.

The cuttings are inserted with a dibber, watered in and left on the greenhouse bench where they root quite happily.

Almost rooted after three weeks.
They root quite easily on the open bench.

Well rooted under four weeks.
