Merry Christmas, one and all.

Post by Tadcu »

As it is hammering down outside , at 2:30 P M., Friday, 23rd., December, 2022, I thought I'd scribe a few words, to mention a few things that we can do over the next few week in the glasshouse.
I have quite a number of used plant labels in several ice-cream containers that need cleaning, in readiness for the coming 2023, season.
I use an HB., pencil, to write on labels, I know some growers' use felt- tipped markers.
The beauty of using pencil to write is that the writing can be rubbed off, easily, however, the writing stays on for many years. I have many labels, that date back to 2017, some predate this date and are in the same pot to this day, with the writing still in place.
To clean I use a container with soapy water and a green washing pad. The writing comes off quite easily and can be reused.
Some, use felt tipped pen. To get these clean, use the same green pad, but use surgical or methylated spirit. They come-up like new.
It's important, that all labels are stored in a frost free, container in a shed or garage. I use an elastic band to secure each bundle.
Another chore, is to clean the potting on dates from pots.I use a felt pen.
I write the dates each time I pot on. To clean, with little effort, use methylated spirit on a green pad.
The pots, are as good as new too. They are also stored in a frost free garage, ready for next year.
