August
It doesn't seem two minutes ago since I wrote last month. Well as
you will know the National Show is about on us, that's come quick, too
quick for me for all my Multistems are running a bit late so
unfortunately I have none ready for the show this week. I've got
together my restricted pot entries and the one pot and one cut bloom
so at least I've got something to put on the show bench.
I am
looking forward to meeting up with all the lads and have a good
natter and to see everyone's exhibits, I'm led to believe the
entries are looking good so things should go well for for the show ,that's what we want.
I've had a really busy time over the
last few weeks,
I'm having to do quite a bit more around the house these days mainly
because of my wife's health not being so good and that leaves me with
less time with my flowers but I've got to get my priorities right.
We had a garden visit last Thursday evening around thirty five
people turned up from quite a wide area - Chester, Nantwich, Wrexham,
Crewe and my wife along with my son and his wife made sure
they all had plenty to eat and drink besides enjoying looking at the
begonias, chrysanths and the garden. Not many of them have seen
Begonias like the ones we grow, they couldn't stop talking about them.
My Chrysanthemums are doing well this year and it's getting to the
time when I've got to spend more time on them, taking down the
laterals to the number I'm going to flower them, nipping out the
breaks between each leaf joint and generally keeping on top. My
garden has reached its peak now and it's been looking good and that has
happened on its own, I reckon I'll have to cut down a bit all round next
year, I've been saying that for the last few years now and I think
now the time has come to grow a few less of every thing.
Well that's all I have time for just now, hope to see you at the show .
Ron
