Growing Begonias My way

Hi everyone it is time for a little more input from yours truly. It was nice to meet up with some of you guys at our AGM, again it was good to hear that the society is doing well and going from strength to strength. We are I am sure thankful to our committee for all the work they put in in keeping it so The balance sheet was pleasant reading and I feel moving our national show to Shrewsbury has been a big factor in that to.
I don’t know how the weather has been with you all over the last month but up here in North Wales it’s been quite dull showery and cool.

The last time I wrote I was telling you about cleaning things ready for the start of the season, well I think I have got most things ready now, I have wire woolled all of my supports a time consuming and finger aching job and then oiling each of them too.
I have also cleaned all the labels that I used, probably 800 or more, I have also pulled down the muslin and washed that and have just got to put that back up again.
What I am most pleased about this year is my tuber start up I would say it is my best to date.  There are some pictures to show you things I have done and how things are moving on for me.

I must let you know a little about my other passion Chrysanthemum like my begonias they too have got off to a great start, rooted well good healthy foliage and I have 260 potted up into three and half inch pots, just another 35 to do this coming weekend.

Back to Begonias I have started potting up into various size pots 11cm 13cm 2ltr 3ltr 5ltr and one 10ltr all of which had good roots, lovely jubbly. I think by this coming weekend I should have got most of my Multistems  potted up so I am where I wanted to be this year, just ahead of previous years, I am chuffed.
Whilst at the AGM Dave Weatherby our NW. Rep let it be known the usual date for our Chorley meeting has been changed to 17/3/2017.
