November
Today is Sunday 5/11/2017 and for us in this area it is feeling damp
and cold, a big change for us for it's been on the warm side for
quite a few weeks. I like it on the cool side this time of the year,
by that I mean my plants Begonias to get them to go down and for my
chrysanthemums to slow them down to stop them going over the top
before show time.
The talk I gave for Geoff and their members seemed
to go down well and a good participation with the audience, the two hours
flew by and the journey there and back was good too.
Well as
ever my Begonias are really slow at shutting down which I suppose
that's been due to the good warm/ mild October, I reckon it will be
well into December before they go to bed, so I'll will have to keep
on top of picking up dropped leaves and logs. I haven't heard much
from anyone for a while so nothing to report on them.
I have been
busy on the chrysanthemum front, I've judged at a couple of shows and
yesterday I went with my friend to the National Chrysanthemum Show
at Stafford show ground where I was pleasantly surprised at the
quality on show, very good. I wished I could have been competing
but I have had a bad attack of red rust. I'm going to have a good
look at them this week to see if I can find any that I can show at
our show in Chester this weekend, I've got some nice blooms but it's
the rust that will make me show them or not. I am still thinking and
I'm sure others are too of that great exhibit at our National in the
seven pot class and the
twelve board
- fantastic, I'm told the seven
pots where the best ever shown they where the best I've ever seen,
so for myself that is what I will be aiming to replicate, here's
hoping.
Well that's all for this time cheers. Ron.
