This year with the demise of the Ayr
Flower Show at Rossell Park the SBS Annual Show was held at Dundee as
part of the show at Camperdown Park. However there was a reduced
schedule this year as result of timescales.
The begonia classes were in the main well
contended with most of the top growers exhibiting to support their
society. This year the British Championship 12 board winner was Tony
Shepherdson from Newcastle closely followed by Phil Champion who was
second, John Hamilton third, George Thompson fourth and Ronnie welsh
fifth. This win by Tony followed his success at NBS Shrewsbury Show and
he holds the British Championship, The National Championship and The
Scottish 6 board championship a very successful year, congratulations.
The 4ft x 4ft group was well contested with
Bruce Mcleod taking the honours. Bert Nelson was second and Bob
All in all a good first show at the new
venue. The SBS committee should be commended for their considerable
efforts both in arranging a new venue and all their considerable efforts
at the show. Well done to all who supported the Scottish Begonia
Society. Onward and upwards for next year!
Tony Shepherdson was undoubtedly the man of
the show and set the standard for next year.
