After 32 years of staging our annual Area
Show in the floral marquee of the Southsea Show
it was time for a change, the obvious new venue being the hall that we use for our meetings, and so on Friday 5th. August
we gathered to set up our new show. We were working to a very tight
schedule as the hall was booked for a bridge group in the afternoon. Our
window was 0900 - 1300 and after 1630, we could only work on the stage
in the morning.
By the time we had to evacuate for lunch the stand was virtually
complete, allowing us to concentrate on setting out the tables for
competitive classes as soon as the hall became free again.
As can be
seen from the pictures below it was all a great success, exceeding our
expectations. The tables were full and our group display was the
best for years. A total of 129 blooms, 32 pots and 9 baskets, all
to a very high standard, were exhibited.
