This is my 8' x 8'6" shoulder greenhouse at the rear
of my garage. It is heated by North Sea Gas and has electric bench
heaters. This is an insurance against power failures. |

My North Sea Gas Shilton
home heater – a 1500 (1.5k.w.) Shilton heater. It has a thermocouple stat
which operates mechanically and it is thus independent of any electric
mains failure. |

Soil heating cable
thermostat, set at 70ºF. All of my benches are fitted with 75W soil
heating cables with their thermostats. |

14'9" x 9' 'Elite' greenhouse with 7 x side vents and automatic 3 top
vents.

Each of my greenhouses has a
hose and spray lance for easy watering.
I changed to a B&Q lance because of its great selection of types of spray.
The one I use most is the shower spray. I use the mist spray on my
rooted cuttings. |

Whilst shading may be stretched
over the outside of the greenhouse, I prefer to pin mine onto the inside. |

Greenhouses are all lined with
white netting for the exclusion of insects and white polythene for the
shading of plants from the sun.
Coloured shading weakens the bloom colours.
The supplementary bubble
insulation is removed in late April. |

Sectioned off end of 20' x
10'6" greenhouse which is lined with bubble insulation to conserve heat
and is also lined with white polythene. All three allotment
greenhouses have 12" high benches. |

My summerhouse comes into use
when all of the frosts have gone. It is a 14' x 9' structure with
bottom and top ventilation provided by 6" netted gaps. |
