The Show coincided with a beautiful summer weekend in marked contrast to what had gone before. Mike Avis masterminded the overall show with his usual efficiency on his 65th birthday.
   Unfortunately, from the bumper entries last year, there was a downturn. This was due to growing problems and personal difficulties with certain growers. There were however, positives. A number of new exhibitors entered, including some of our NBS friends who had made the long journey from South Wales to be with us. There were some outstanding exhibits and an influx of novice entries. This is reflected by the fact that we enrolled seven new NBS members on the day.
   That doyen of pot plants, Lakin Earl, tried his hand at cut blooms for the first time with spectacular success. However, best cut bloom went to John Chiswell and the best pot plant, was not a tuberous show plant as normally, but a Rex entered by Gary Dando, Area Representative.

Next year’s show is booked for Sunday 15th August 2010 at the Pannier Market.
