From the 14th. to 16th. May the eagerly
awaited preview of begonias and delphiniums, some that may grace the
B&L exhibit in two weeks at Chelsea, took place. This is combined
with a sale of plants and is a Mecca for plant enthusiasts. Many NBS
members, some travelling quite some distance, took the opportunity
			to attend.
			   B&L are
probably one of the oldest independent nurseries still in existence
providing quality plants for over 100 years. They are also one of
the longest continuous exhibitors at RHS shows throughout the
county, again well over 100 years. Also, B&L are the only original
exhibitor at the very first Chelsea Show still attending this
prestigious event. Last year they were awarded gold for their
outstanding display of begonias and delphiniums.
			   Still in family
ownership, the company is now run by Nicolas, Stephen and Simon
Langdon, all grandsons of Charles Langdon, one of the two original
founders. That is not to say that their parents, John and Rosemary,
are not around to give encouragement. It was good to see them over
			the weekend meeting old friends.
The following pictures give a snapshot
of plants on display at the preview.
B&L were again awarded a Gold Medal.
